Mission of Let's Get Physical 5K
Let's Get Physical 5K raises money for Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis and the McKendree Sport Management Society. Proceeds donated to CAC will support its park development project and after-school and summer programming. Sport Management Society helps Sport Management majors gain experiential learning opportunities, campus visits with practitioners, and the chance to land a great job, post-graduation.
What's CAC?
Christian Activity Center, East St. Louis
A nonprofit organization based in East St. Louis, Ill., CAC's mission is to change the world for the kids of its community by creating a place to grow, literally and figuratively. Kids who regularly participate in CAC's programs for just 12 months have a demonstrable improvement in GPA (2.10 to 3.30), and impressive reduction in juvenile crime/court involvement (80% to less than 5%). The organization's strategy is two-fold: Invest in the education, experiences, and homes of the youth it serves; and Reclaim the brown space that makes up their kids' panoramic view of the world. To that end, CAC is raising funds for A Place to Grow, transforming four cleared city blocks into an outdoor fun world of community gardens, a splash pad, walking paths, a performing arts stage, and more.

What's McKendree Sport Management Society?
McKendree University Sport Management Society
Like many college majors, practical experience outside of the classroom is an essential part of a Sport Management major's learning experience. As a result, McKendree University students recently founded the McKendree Sport Management Society. Students gain valuable practical skills through hosting fundraising events, interact with professionals in the field at conferences and guest speaker appearances, and volunteering at collegiate and professional sporting events.
